FUSED GLASS

The daughter of an architect, I’ve loved all aspects of design since I was big enough to sit at my dad’s drafting table. The gratification of seeing a vision come to fruition is so exciting!

As a child I spent hours in my dad’s workshop, creating anything I could imagine… from crutches for my Barbie cut from balsa wood, to a paper mache doll detailed to look like my 5th Grade teacher. I loved that workshop! To this day, the smell of saw dust instantly takes me there… the sound of Dad’s radial arm saw, saw dust in the air, working alongside the man whose talent had no limits. He nurtured creativity in all of us: me, my brother and my sister.

In 2008, I was introduced to a new passion… the art of fused glass. The ability to express myself through a ‘hands-on’ format is truly therapeutic for me, and in 2010 I started my art studio, CopperSnob.com.

My fascination with Raku pottery lead to my early glass pieces being fabricated predominantly from highly textured, iridescent colors that, once fired, resembled Raku. The desire to try new things and stretch the limits has led me to incorporate bright colors, experiment with various techniques, and incorporate unusual mounts and display styles.
